Etzem exists so that every Jew — no matter where they live, what denomination they follow, or how they practice — has a community to call home.
Our mission
“Every Jew deserves a community to call home.”
Etzem started with a simple idea: Jewish people deserve a safe, welcoming space online — one that reflects the diversity of the Jewish world and takes community seriously.
Our flagship is the Jewish Community Server on Discord — one of the largest Jewish communities online, with nearly 10,000 members from over 33 countries. But we're building far beyond a single chat room.
We're creating a full ecosystem: curated resources, Torah learning tools, community programs, events, and the infrastructure to support Jewish life wherever you are.
What we believe
Six principles. No compromises.
Every Jew belongs
Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, secular, Baal Teshuva — if you're Jewish, you're welcome. No exceptions, no asterisks, no fine print.
Safety is non-negotiable
Verification exists because we take our members' safety seriously. In a world of rising antisemitism, guarding our doors isn't optional — it's foundational.
Community is built, not given
Real friendships take effort. We create the spaces, programs, and culture that make genuine connection possible — not just another chat room.
Grounded in tradition
Rooted in Orthodox Jewish values while welcoming Jews of all backgrounds and levels of observance. Torah isn't a gate — it's a foundation.
Global by nature
Jews are everywhere. Our community reflects that — 33+ countries, every timezone, Ashkenazi to Teimani. The Jewish world in one place.
Transparent and accountable
We publish quarterly reports, share our plans publicly, and build in the open. You shouldn't have to trust blindly — you should be able to verify.
Why “Etzem”
Etzem means “essence” in Hebrew.
We chose the name because community isn't an add-on to Jewish life — it's the essence of it. From the minyan to the Shabbat table, Judaism has never been a solo practice.
Etzem is our attempt to carry that forward: to build digital spaces that feel as real and as grounding as the ones our grandparents had.
