Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
These terms govern your use of Etzem's services, including our website at etzem.org and the Jewish Community Server on Discord. By using our services, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
1.Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using any Etzem service — including our website, Discord server, and any related tools or platforms — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use our services.
These terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Etzem. We've written them in plain language because we believe you should actually understand what you're agreeing to.
2.Description of Service
Etzem operates an online Jewish community. Our services currently include:
- The Jewish Community Server on Discord — a verified, moderated community for Jewish people worldwide
- The Etzem website (etzem.org) — community information, resources, and tools
- Related services, programs, and features we may introduce over time
We may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We'll do our best to communicate significant changes in advance.
3.Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use our services. This is consistent with Discord's own Terms of Service and is non-negotiable.
Access to our Discord server requires completion of our verification process. Verification exists to protect the safety and integrity of our Jewish community — it is not optional for Discord access.
4.Account & Verification
To participate in the Jewish Community Server, you need a Discord account and must complete our verification process. During verification, you'll be asked to provide information about yourself to confirm your connection to the Jewish community.
You agree to:
- Provide truthful, accurate information during verification
- Maintain the security of your Discord account
- Not attempt to circumvent, manipulate, or deceive the verification process
- Not create multiple accounts to evade bans or restrictions
We reserve the right to deny or revoke verification at our discretion if we believe information provided is false or misleading.
5.Community Guidelines
All members of the Jewish Community Server are expected to follow our Community Guidelines. These guidelines are part of these Terms and are enforced by our moderation team.
Violations may result in warnings, temporary mutes, kicks, or permanent bans — depending on the severity and context. Moderation decisions are made at the discretion of our staff team and are generally final.
6.User Conduct
When using any Etzem service, you agree not to:
- Engage in hate speech, antisemitism, racism, or discrimination of any kind
- Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other members
- Spam, flood, or disrupt conversations or services
- Impersonate other members, staff, or any other person or entity
- Share illegal content or engage in illegal activity
- Attempt to exploit, hack, or interfere with our services or infrastructure
- Share other members' personal information without their consent
- Use our services for commercial purposes without authorization
This list is not exhaustive. We reserve the right to take action on behavior that violates the spirit of these terms, even if not explicitly listed.
7.Intellectual Property
The Etzem name, logo, website design, and original content published on etzem.org are the property of Etzem. You may not use our branding or content without permission.
You retain ownership of any content you post in our Discord server or other services. By posting content, you grant Etzem a non-exclusive license to display that content within the context of our services (for example, displaying your messages in the Discord server where you posted them).
8.Privacy
Your privacy matters to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information. The Privacy Policy is part of these Terms.
9.Disclaimers
Our services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We don't guarantee that our services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.
Etzem is a community organization, not a religious authority, legal firm, or professional advisory service. Content shared in our community — including Torah discussions, halachic conversations, and general advice — should not be treated as a substitute for professional religious guidance, legal counsel, or any other professional advice. Always consult qualified professionals for important decisions.
10.Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Etzem and its team members, volunteers, and staff shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use our services.
This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of our services is limited to the amount you've paid us (which, since our services are free, is zero).
11.Modifications
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll notify the community through our Discord server and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
Continued use of our services after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree with any changes, you should stop using our services.
12.Contact
If you have questions about these Terms, need to report a concern, or want to reach our team, the best way to contact us is through our Discord server. You can reach staff directly through our support channels or by opening a modmail ticket.
